5 Natural Flu-Fighting Remedies

by

It’s that time of year again. In our best efforts to come out of this “flu season” happy and healthy, I’ve complied a quick list of things you can start doing tomorrow to avoid the unwanted bug. Take the time to prioritize the 5 things below- you’ll thank yourself later.

  1. Boost your gut health.

We’ll start here as most things in the body do. Your immune system makes up 70-80% of your gut. Utilizing a probiotic, fermented foods, bone broth, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage), Kombucha. Avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners will also give the gut some love. Find more gut boosting tips here or download my free gut loving foods list.

  2. Wash your hands thoroughly.

This may sound obvious – but do not underestimate the importance of a thorough 20-30 second rinse (sing “happy birthday”).

  3. Sleep.

Get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Your body relies on sleep to restore itself. Chronic sleep deprivation wreaks havoc on your immune system.

  4. Reduce stress.

Stress suppresses the immune system. Find some ways to reduce stress in your life such as meditating for as little as 5 minutes, hitting the gym, yoga, or reading for pleasure. I can’t stress enough how important this is.

  5. Supplement.

Take an immune booster. I recommend the Isotonix Immune supplement due to its studied ingredient: Wellmune WGP. Also vitamin C and vitamin D (5,000 IU) in the isotonic form for best absorption and utilization. Both are key infection fighters. Zinc is also useful as it has antioxidant properties and needed for the functioning of white blood cells.

I’ve included a funny picture from a recent plane ride. I took a few extra masks from the hospital to wear in my attempt to keep some germs away. As for Sam…I’m not sure what he’s trying to keep away. flu remedies, immune system, healthy, fall
